ASU Kalibo Celebrates National Women’s Month 2025: Advancing Gender Equality and Inclusivity

Kalibo, Aklan. Aklan State University-Kalibo proudly joins the nation in celebrating National Women’s Month 2025, embracing the theme “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society” with the subtheme “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas.” The campaign hashtag #WEcanbeEquALL highlights the call for equality and empowerment.

Aligned with Republic Act 6949 and Proclamation #227 s. 1988, this celebration supports ASU’s Gender and Development (GAD) goals in promoting gender-responsive policies and inclusive governance. The 2025 NWMC focuses on three key areas: advocacy for gender equality, inclusion of marginalized sectors, and multi-sectoral collaboration.

Under the leadership of GAD Chair Mr. Kim G. Yabut, ASU Kalibo’s GAD unit, in collaboration with various departments and organizations, has planned the following activities to actively engage students, faculty, and the community in the celebration:

March 5 – Blood Buddies Project: Year 3 Bloodletting Activity

March 10 – 2025 National Women’s Month Kick-off Ceremony

March 3-21 – Women in Focus: A Photographic Exhibit on Filipina Narratives at HM 1033-107

March 24-25 – Gahum sang Tingog: EGS Radio Drama Anthology Showcase by BSHM 2nd-Year Students at USC AVR

March 26 – Holy Eucharistic Celebration and Multi-Faith Service for Gender Equality and Inclusivity at ASU Kalibo Chapel and AVR

March 27 (Tentative) – NWMC Organization-Focused Seminar for Faculty and Personnel at Function Hall

March 28 – NWMC Client-Focused Seminar for Student Leaders and Students at AVR

March 31 (Tentative) – Community and Extension-Focused Activity at Brgy. Silakat, Nonok, Lezo, Aklan (BTVTED)

In support of the campaign, GAD ASU Kalibo invites everyone to wear purple outfits or accessories every Wednesday in March to symbolize justice, dignity, and gender equality. Participants are encouraged to post their photos using the official hashtag #WEcanbeEquALL to spread awareness and show solidarity.
